Proexport, Colombia is Passion and Salvi Foundation committed to Colombian art and culture

Cartagena de Indias, January 10, 2010 - The American pianist, Stephen Prutsman debuts as the artistic director of the Cartagena International Music Festival. This debut is made with support from Proexport and Colombia is Passion.

Unquestionably, this is the most significant advance in the fourth version of the festival. The Magic of Mozart will be presented, under the direction of Prutsman, during the program. This is in addition to other great works by Mozart. These will enhance the presence of rhythms, music and artists which highlight the cultural wealth of the country and different scenarios about Cartagena.

Prutsman has been described as one of the most versatile and innovative musicians of his generation. Prutsman moves easily among classical, jazz, and world music as a pianist, composer and conductor.

Cartagena will come alive from January 9 to 16, 2010 with 24 concerts (including nine free events), six talks, two exhibitions, as well as over 80 artists on radio and television, all this to achieve the objective of bringing the festival to every corner of Colombia.

Colombia is Passion and Proexport Add to the Festival

The invitation of foreign journalists from well-known international media outlets, through Proexport’s Office of the Vice President of Tourism, and the invitation of artists and world-class musicians, with the support of Colombia is Passion, are among the major contributions that Proexport and Colombia is Passion make to the Cartagena International Music Festival.

"We wanted to connect with the festival because we believe that supporting and promoting artistic expression is a significant investment in strengthening our culture,” explains the general manager of Colombia is Passion Maria Claudia Lacouture Pinedo. “It is also an excellent opportunity to demonstrate much more about our country abroad."

Colombia is a country with great opportunities whose undeniable achievements in recent years in the areas of security, economy and social development, foreign direct investment, foreign trade and tourism are still not perceived in their full light outside Colombia.

For this reason, Colombia is Passion is a national program designed to raise awareness about the reality of Colombia, working and developing joint strategies with the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Trade, Industry and Tourism, as well as with Proexport, business associations, private companies and NGOs to provide a deeper understanding of Colombia abroad.

The country brand endeavors to inform the world that Colombia is on the path of development, has a stable economy, excellent investment opportunities, a privileged geography, immense natural resources, and has especially warm, friendly and passionate people.

Colombia is Passion began in 2005 with the objective of changing the way the world sees Colombia. It also strives to improve international recognition of Colombia. It seeks to transform the paradigms that exist in the country both at home and abroad, in order that Colombians are valued for whom they really are.

'Discover Colombia Through Its Heart' The campaign is designed by Colombia is Passion and supported by the Tourism Promotion Fund of the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Tourism, as well as by Proexport Colombia. It offers the opportunity for Colombian citizens and foreigners to discover and learn more about Colombia.

Seven interactive giant hearts highlight Colombian talents, nature, culture and artistry, diversity, development of cities and industry that grows daily; the hospitality of the people and the reasons millions of foreigners have decided to stay in the country.

The exhibition toured to Washington and New York in the U.S. In early December, 2009 it stopped in Cali will be in Cartagena until next January 15 at Place de la Proclamation near government offices of the department of Bolivar.
