Although there are many positive things to highlight, this time, the seven main hearts of the campaign’s exhibition “Discover Colombia through its Heart” will concentrate on showing that this country is music, culture, talented people, modern cities, biodiversity, hospitality, and peacefulness.
The heart of hospitality
Colombians love to have visitors. They are very nice people who produce smiles by the millions, and who enjoy making other feel good when they come to their country. Foreigners will have a small sample of what does hospitality mean in Colombia, and the easiness with which Colombians open up to help and tend to others.
On this opportunity, the heart will lie on the floor and will be presented as a living room. In this living room, guests will be invited to come in, seat and relax. While they look at videos about Colombia, they will drink a cup of the world’s best coffee, and receive a sample of the flowers grown in Colombia.
The heart of the cities
Although Colombia is a country where nature’s green represents a big part of its charm, it is important to show the world that we also have here impressive cities where the avant-garde reaches the skies and travel the streets.
A heart covered with foliage and 40 viewing windows placed at different heights, will allow visitors to view 40 different pictures to evidence the country’s advances in architectural design, infrastructure, museums, ports, transportation systems, highway network, and free trade zones. In this way, the world’s citizens will discover a modern country, in the midst of the riches produced by rivers and mountains.
Musical heart
An accordion, a harp or a drum make Colombians vibrate. Therefore, in this country joy sounds in many ways: Cumbia, Vallenato, llanera, salsa, popular music, rock, tropical, and pacific.
The artists are already known worldwide, because the awards have given value to this form of expression and millions of followers acclaim it. A synthetic heart with eight audio stations on each side, with headphones, and music displays, which will allow visitors to listen to different music genres and several Colombian artists.
‘La piragua’, ‘Yo me llamo Cumbia’, ‘Nadie es eterno ’, ‘Ay mi llanura’, ‘Cali pachanguero’, ‘La noche’, ‘Te mando flores’, ‘La gota fría’, ‘La camisa negra’ and ‘La vamo a tumbá’, are some of the songs that can be heard. (All songs and artists were validated by Sayco).
A heart of talented people
There are people in Colombia who invent a new world through literature, create scientific advances to cure diseases, set musical sounds and dances in order to generate joy through their voice and through their body, keep the world updated through the biggest news channel, put all their creativity and dexterity into dressing tastefully the world’s vips, and thanks to their discipline, commitment and talent are considered great sportsmen. And the list of all the areas in which Colombians have set their mark can go on and on.
Because of all the above, there will be a heart that has divisions on its sides where there will be pictures 16 Colombians who have shown the world – through their talent – the quality of people that are forged here. Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Manuel Elkin Patarroyo, Shakira, Juanes, Juan Valdez, Silvia Tcherassi, Pibe Valderrama, Fernando Botero, John Leguizamo, Angela Patricia Janiot, among others, will be a part of this honor chart in which many foreigners will say with surprise: “I din’t know he was Colombian”.
A heart of calm
The popular imagery about Colombia talks about it being a risk to come and visit the country. But the past years have helped to show tourists that “the only risk is wanting to stay”. That is the reason why visitors are surprised by a country quite different to the one they had heard about, and they realize that they can walk carelessly through its cities, having a blast everyday of the year.
The testimonies of 82 foreigners after visiting Colombia and what that stay represented to them, captured in a flat heart with a triangular structure that gives an interesting and eye-catching effect, will be the way of representing the “calm” of coming to the place were South America is born.
A mosaic heart.
Colombia is a privileged country: two seas bade its shores, hundreds of landscapes run through it from one end to the other, rainforests that serve as lungs for the world, rivers with plentiful rivers, endless fauna and flora. A population composed of white, black, mestizos, mulatos, zambos, and indigenous people; 80 live and 21 extinct languages. 1.400.000 square kilometers of land where deserts, moors, mountains, seas, and rainforests share a same space. Thanks to 350 light tubes, which will house an ample photographic gallery, the exhibitions visitors will be able to discover in this heart why this country is considered first of the world in biodiversity per square mile.
A heart of culture
Every region of Colombia has a fair, festival or festivity in which all the characteristics that enrich our culture are portrayed. This special feature is the reason why the country has countless of traditions and cultural expression where art, gastronomy, music, and dance turn into a sample of what Colombia and its people are.
A heart with four openings - that will allow visitors to watch a 40 Seconds video – with images of the Iberamerican Drama Festival, Carnival of Barranquilla, Flowers Fair of Medellin, Classical Music Festival of Cartagena, and the Vallenato Festival of Valledupar, among others, will be the didactic means to discover a nation rich in culture and full of joyful people: Colombia.
